Little Green Sock Project Secures £200K Boost to Empower Local Families and Combat Child Poverty

Little Green Sock Project is excited to announce a significant funding milestone with a successful raise of £200,000, a game-changing boost that will enable us to continue our vital work in supporting families and children in Greater Manchester. As a community-driven charity founded on the belief that every child deserves the basics to thrive, we are committed to ensuring that no child goes without essential clothing and items, even as one third of children in our region live in poverty. With the support of local communities, referral partners such as health visitors, foodbanks, and domestic violence refuges, we harness generosity to collect and redistribute quality pre-loved children’s clothes and essentials. This new funding injection will allow us to further expand our efforts by distributing more bundles of warmth and care—over 1,500 bundles have already been delivered, benefiting more than 1,100 children and easing the financial pressure on nearly 1,000 parents. With an impressive track record of over £185,000 worth of items distributed, our work not only supports families during financial hardships and times of crisis but also underpins our initiatives in promoting sustainability by reusing and recycling perfectly good clothing. The funding will be dedicated to enhancing our distribution networks, increasing outreach to vulnerable families including single parents and those fleeing abuse, and ensuring that every available resource is channeled towards creating a brighter future for our community.
