Feeding San Diego Secures $25,000 in Grant Funding to Fight Hunger and Food Waste

Feeding San Diego, the vital non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating hunger in San Diego County, is excited to announce that it has successfully raised $25,000 in its latest funding round. Established in 2007, Feeding San Diego focuses on connecting individuals facing hunger with nutritious meals through its innovative food rescue initiatives. As the only Feeding America partner food bank in the region, the organization boasts a remarkable network that distributes over 35.4 million meals annually to those in need—including children, families, seniors, military families, and veterans—through partnerships with nearly 350 local charities and community organizations. The newly raised funds will bolster Feeding San Diego's mission to expand its ongoing programs and support systems, ensuring that even more surplus food from local donors is rescued and redirected to families in need. Impressively, more than 76 percent of the food they distribute is rescued, amounting to over 31 million pounds being diverted from landfills and helping to protect the environment. By donating just $1, individuals can provide two meals to those facing hunger, further emphasizing the impact of contributions both on local families and the planet.
