AI Factory Austria Secures €40M to Fuel ISTA’s Next-Generation Research Revolution

We are thrilled to announce that AI Factory Austria has successfully raised 40,000,000 in a funding round that marks a significant milestone for our institution and the broader scientific community. As part of the dynamic Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), a young, international hub dedicated to pioneering graduate education and cutting-edge research across the physical, mathematical, computer, and life sciences, this capital injection will be pivotal in accelerating our ambitious projects. Located in Klosterneuburg on the outskirts of Vienna, ISTA has become a beacon of innovative research since its inauguration in 2009, and now hosts more than 70 vibrant research groups with plans to expand to 150 by 2036. This funding will boost our capacity to develop state-of-the-art research facilities, attract top-tier talent, and foster interdisciplinary collaborations that merge experimental research with advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence. Under the adept leadership of Professor Martin Hetzer—appointed in 2023 as the second President of ISTA and a renowned molecular biologist with distinguished experience including his tenure as Senior Vice President at The Salk Institute for Biological Studies—the institute continues to assert its independence and maintain its freedom from political and commercial influences. The infusion of 40,000,000 will not only strengthen our research infrastructure but also enhance our commitment to science and graduate education, positioning ISTA and its AI Factory branch at the forefront of transformative discoveries.
