Hunger Task Force Fuels Change: $7,900 Grant Empowers Milwaukee’s Free & Local Food Bank

Hunger Task Force is thrilled to announce the successful funding round that raised $7,900 to further its mission of eliminating hunger and malnutrition in Milwaukee County. As Milwaukee’s free and local food bank and Wisconsin’s foremost anti-hunger organization, Hunger Task Force is dedicated to ensuring that every individual has access to adequate, nutritious food obtained with dignity. This significant financial boost will help expand programs that directly address the pressing food needs of a community where 35,000 people rely on food pantries and 60,000 warm meals are served monthly, against a backdrop of alarming child poverty rates and economic hardship. The funds will be strategically invested to enhance the quality and reach of the services provided by Hunger Task Force. Known as the nation’s only MyPlate food bank, the organization distributes healthy food meeting federal nutrition guidelines, supporting a vast network of local food pantries and meal programs. Moreover, the contributions will assist in the continued operation of the 208-acre Farm, which infuses half a million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables into the food bank’s supplies each year. Additional funding will boost innovative programs such as the Fresh Picks Mobile Market and the nationally acclaimed summer meals program for kids, ensuring that nutritious food is accessible to families in need.
