Global Brigades Canada Secures $148M+ to Ignite Holistic Community Development in Central America

Global Brigades Canada is proud to announce that we have raised an impressive $148,797,145 to further expand our mission of empowering communities in Central America. This significant funding milestone will enable us to enhance and sustain our holistic model of health and economic programs, providing much-needed support to communities actively driving their own development. Since our inception, our passionate student leaders have driven change by leading 7-10 day brigades that not only contribute to program funding but also directly implement these initiatives on the ground. The newly raised funds will be strategically allocated to reinforce these brigades, support local full-time teams, and provide critical follow-up and guidance to ensure long-term sustainability beyond initial project implementation. Our approach has always centered on a unique blend of skill-based volunteer opportunities and community empowerment. With over 10,000 annual volunteers from more than 500 chapters worldwide, we have reached over 300,000 beneficiaries through tailored health and economic development solutions. This funding will help us expand our programs even further by investing in both preventative and innovative strategies that combat health disparities and nurture local economic growth. In addition, it will bolster our capacity to transition from direct intervention to more structured, community-led models of support, ensuring that progress continues between brigades as local teams work tirelessly to maintain development momentum.
