North East Derbyshire District Council is delighted to announce the successful raise of £3,800,000 in new funding, a significant milestone that underscores our commitment to fostering community growth and enhancing local infrastructure. Nestled in one of England’s most picturesque counties and forming part of the historic Peak District border, our district is renowned for its vibrant blend of thriving urban settlements and charming rural villages. Covering nearly 258 square kilometres with key centres such as Clay Cross, Dronfield, Eckington, and Killamarsh, North East Derbyshire is a district of contrasts that bridges modern opportunities with a rich heritage of natural beauty. This substantial funding will be dedicated to several essential initiatives designed to support local businesses, enhance transport links, and preserve the unique leisure and environmental assets that define our area. With over 4,000 businesses calling our district home—most of which are dynamic micro enterprises—and having a number of nationally recognised firms within our boundaries, these funds will empower us to stimulate local economic growth and create employment opportunities. Moreover, our excellent national rail and road links, combined with a wealth of attractions such as the Grassmoor country park, Linacre Reservoir nature area, greenways, and four local nature reserves, will benefit from infrastructure improvements that enhance visitor experience and community wellbeing.
