Cultivating a Sustainable Future: Rythu Sadhikara Samstha Secures Rs. 17.2 Crore to Propel Natural Farming Innovation

Rythu Sadhikara Samstha (RySS), a pioneering Section 8 company established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, has successfully raised Rs. 17,20,00,000 to further fuel its groundbreaking natural farming programme. Based in Guntur and catering to over 800,000 farmers across all 26 districts of Andhra Pradesh, RySS is at the forefront of promoting climate-resilient, chemical-free ecological agriculture that aligns with sustainable development goals. This significant funding milestone will be dedicated to expanding outreach initiatives and enhancing support systems under various national schemes, including the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), Paramparagath Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY), Bharatiya Prakritik Krishi Paddhati (BPKP), and the State Plan which boasts an outlay of Rs. 750 crore over five years. In collaboration with Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives, RySS’s Technical Support Unit is set to strengthen advisory services, ensuring that small and marginal farmers receive profitable and sustainable alternatives to conventional high-cost, chemical-dependent agriculture. Launched in 2015-16, this initiative not only aims to boost farmer and consumer welfare but also strives to safeguard the environment amid emerging climate uncertainties. By leveraging recent scientific discoveries and deeply rooted traditional Indian practices, the natural farming principles championed by RySS resonate with the global agroecology movement—a framework recently endorsed by the Food and Agriculture Organization to meet worldwide food security and environmental conservation challenges. With this fresh injection of capital, RySS is poised to accelerate its innovative approach, ultimately transforming agricultural practices and reinforcing a resilient rural economy across Andhra Pradesh.
