The inception of birdSEED in late fall 2020 marked a pivotal evolution for Flock, which traditionally managed homes but recognized the pressing need for reparative justice in an industry that has long marginalized these communities. Redlining and exclusionary practices have systematically denied wealth-generating opportunities in homeownership for generations, creating a troubling legacy that Flock and birdSEED are determined to confront. The recent funding infusion will enable the foundation to provide critical resources, such as educational seminars, financial counseling, and down payment assistance, facilitating a more equitable pathway to homeownership for those historically shut out.
